Cabin Crash, Take Two

On the return trip, we opted to make a straight shot from Seattle to the Dehlinger family cabin in Lake of the Woods, OR. We arrived stupid late - like 1:30AM or so, however still had enough juice left in us to spend some time on the end of the dock admiring the gazillion stars that are visible at 5000' with no light pollution to be found.

When we awoke the next morning, my crafty father (who'd gotten up ludicrously early to enjoy some time on the lake fishing) treated us to fresh barbecue'd trout for breakfast. What a treat! As you can see, my fathers' luck was ON this morning...
Besides unwinding under the stars, we also took a few moments to unwind on the end of the dock the next day. What a way to hash over some of the killer conversation and ideas this trip spawned! Here we are on the dock, enjoying the views.

Not that we'd ever admit to it, but since there was just the two of us in the RV, we avoided showers as much as possible (the shower in the RV was seriously tiny!) Fortunately for us, the lake was warm, and we found a bar of soap to take advantage of before my relatives arrived to celebrate the 4th of July holiday. You can't tell from the picture below, but we were covered in soap, preparing for one quick dive to cleanliness.

Yeah - I couldn't resist playing 'stock photog' with the new camera. This thing takes some fabulous pictures! The one below is a close up I snapped of Mt. McGloughlan. Note how the snow has melted into the shape of South America...
